This is post 4 of 7 in a series called “Back to the Basics.” The big picture of what we as Christians believe can become so common to us that it loses its rightful awe. Join me in refocusing on these fundamental, amazing truths! I believe in absolute truth. I believe that the God who made this world and this humanity knows the best way it will run. He has the authority to dictate truth because he’s been the author of everything from the very beginning. He knows. He knows how our hearts wander and ache, and he knows the only way to guide and heal them. He knows the love and stability we yearn for, and he knows the only lasting way to give it to us. He knows the questions and situations and deep searching we harbor, and he knows all the answers.
A great deal of this Divine knowledge has been laid out for us in the words of the Bible. God didn’t keep it to himself, no, he wrote an instruction manual through personal testimony, narrative, poetry, history, and rules. These words lay out the best way to live and the answers to life’s most deep and important questions. Today, many people claim relativity. To them, absolute truth seems presumptuous and unfair. It seems to be hard and uncaring, not taking personal situations or feeling into consideration. In reality, absolute truth is a great mercy: that we can know things instead of simply depending on feeling and circumstance. It’s a solid, unchanging rock throughout all time and space. It holds people to a standard of right and wrong, and that might offend you—but try to see what that offers. It offers stability. Knowledge of the best way to live. A basis for social justice and progress. After all, how could any “progress” or “justice” exist apart from the existence of a correct way, an ultimate right and wrong? Not only does absolute truth define “right” and “wrong,” it gives us hope. It holds the rebuttal to every lie we face, every negative and destructive thought. It tells us that this world has a purpose, that beauty is a result of a Creator, and that evil and pain will come to an end one day. It tells us of a great and mighty God that created the universe in a brilliant flash, but also humbled himself to human form to walk beside us and restore us to himself. It has a lot to say to you personally too- that you are priceless, loved in a tangible way by a personal God, and full of potential. Oh, truth is so beautiful! It fills us with love and understanding for each other, a desire to bring about justice, and an unshakable view of God. It reassures us in our weaknesses, and it’s what we can hang onto through every storm, pain, question, and confusion. I don’t have nearly enough knowledge, time, or room to tell you every truth there is, so I’m begging you, read it for yourself. It's laid out in the word of God, the Bible. It will change your life, word by word. It will change your mind and deepen your understanding of the world. It will give you the wisdom and motivation to live and love in the best way possible. I’m begging you, read it for yourself. - Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” {John 8:31-32} - The next post is about one God expressed in the trinity- don't miss it!

ABSOLUTELY what I needed to read this morning. My family struggles so much these days. Choices that as a Mother, I feel responsible for due to the dysfunctional upbringing we endured as a family victimized by alcoholism and mental illness. The scars have healed and I'm so over it but unfortunately the others continue to question God's ultimate plan... Forgiveness of sins, life everlasting, and acceptance of letting go and letting God. I'm slowly letting go and lovingly letting my adult children hit the rock bottom they need to understand it's THEIR lives they're messing with, THEIR choices that have consequences, and THEIR relationship with Jesus Christ that can bring them peace of mind. I needed this today and will make a copy of I can to re-read daily if I need to. Please pray for my adult children to find their way back to Jesus. AMEN, Soncerely Jaci Wolfe~

Jaci, thank you for your comment. I'm glad this could encourage you, and I will be praying for you and your family for sure. Truth will always lead to healing, peace, and contentment in life. God will restore things that seem un-fixable, we just have to continue trusting in his faithfulness and plan, and loving people in the best ways we know how. It sounds like you're doing those things well!
